Curry General Hospital
opened its new Cardiac
Health Center in
September 2004 with the
hopes of encouraging
cardiovascular patients
to follow their
physician’s prescription
for a healthier
lifestyle after
suffering a serious
heart problem or
surgery.
Before the center
opened, heart patients
were forced to travel to
Medford or Coos Bay
three times a week for
cardiac rehabilitation
classes. Wishing to
avoid the expense and
time, patients chose to
skip that vital part of
their recovery.
Now,
thanks to the
perseverance of hospital
management, and the
donations from caring
community individuals,
local cardiac patients
can choose to heal in
their own backyards.
Cardiac Rehab patients
are seen between 10:00 am
and 2:00 pm every
Tuesday, Wednesday, and
Thursday.
Pulmonary rehab is a
program that teaches
patients with lung
disease how to obtain an
improved level of health
and fitness.
This is
achieved by combining
education, breathing
retraining, energy
conservation and
monitored exercise in a
comprehensive approach
to caring and managing
chronic lung disease.
Participation in
Pulmonary Rehab enables
patients to increase
their physical activity
conditioning and
exercise tolerance, thus
minimizing shortness of
breath with daily
activities.
Let us
help you live, learn and
breath better with lung
disease. |
